THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE AND TAKING THE TIME TO READ MY BLOG.

YOU ARE THE REASON THAT MAKES ME EXCITED TO SHARE MY TRAVEL STORIES WITH THE WORLD.

I was born in 1989 in a little village called Meinedo in Porto. I have the best memories from my childhood, running around free and playing with my neighbors and grandparents.

I lived a pretty simple life growing up in Portugal and never venture too much outside the village. When I was about 5 years old my mother created the tradition of taking us away to the beach for two weeks during the summer holidays.

I loved how everything was different away from the village and how much fun we had away from home. Every summer I looked forward to this and I guess that’s when I got my travel bug!

My teenage years were spent watching American movies and dreaming how I would leave my country one day to live in New York City. I kept my dreams alive and kept studying hard hoping that one day they would come true.

After high school I left my village to live in Porto while I was attending university there. This was a massive challenge at all levels for me: living in a big city, meeting different people from all over the country and becoming a little bit independent. It was liberating!

I made friends for life and lived some of the best years of my life. While I developed so much as a person I also worked hard towards finishing my nursing degree to make my dream of living abroad come true.

Moving to the UK…

While I was in university there were a lot of Portuguese nurses being recruited to work in the UK and I started to prepare myself for that. I saw it as my opportunity to go and see other countries.

In 2012 I graduated and five months later I started literally, the adventure of my life! I moved to Portsmouth in the UK with my best friend and I started to plan how to visit all the places I wanted to go as I was saving money.

Unfortunately working by shifts meant that it was really hard to have days off at the same time with most of my friends so I decided to fly solo. I decided to visit London first as it was still in the country and if I didn’t like the feeling of traveling alone I could always just take the train back home.

I loved the feeling of exploring the city with my little paper map (no smart phones or google maps at that time!) and I learned that I could be adventurous and independent while having fun.

When I returned back home after that weekend I planned my trip to Amsterdam straight away. My first time outside the country on my own and it was great. Many more trips followed that some solo others with friends, my bucket list just kept increasing!

In 2014 I made the move to go and work in London so travel became even easier. I started to seriously explore the world and the airport became my second home!

In eight years I’ve visited 48 countries (in the middle of my crazy nurse shifts) ticking off many dreams of my bucket list, from bungee jumping in New Zealand to swimming with sharks in South Africa, you name it!

Moving abroad from the UK…

When I finally felt that I belonged a little bit to the UK a new challenge appeared in my life. My husband also wanted to experience how it is to live abroad so we end up moving to Denmark in 2016 when he got a job there. I lived there for three years and had an amazing time, made lots of friends and completely embraced the Danish life.

During my time in Denmark I had my son. In a way I changed my way of seeing the world around me and also the way I plan my trips. It gives me great joy seeing my son growing up in a world of possibilities as I do my best to show him the beauty of this world.

From Denmark to Pakistan, here we go again!

In April 2019 we packed our house again and move across the globe to Pakistan to continue my husband’s job abroad. I’m currently living here in Islamabad and it has been challenging living outside Europe but it’s exciting to get to know so many different realities that I wouldn’t be exposed to in Europe. I can’t wait to continue to explore this part of the world!

Life is too short so I want to make every day count towards making my dreams come true. I want to see the beauty and diversity of the world. I want to be inspired by places, people and experiences.

It’s going to sound like a cliché but travel has really changed my life! Over the years I became more relaxed and confident exploring unknown places and became happier as a person. I learned that the world is not a scary place and have been positively surprised by the kindness and generosity of strangers even when language is a barrier.
