Back in April I had the opportunity to visit Hamburg, the perfect little getaway not far from Copenhagen. The Heikotel Hotel Am Stadtpark was the hotel of choice for two nights.
HEIKOTEL HOTEL AM STADTPARK
The hotel is one of the six Hamburg hotels and residential apartments owned by Heikotel. Class and comfort are the first words of choice to characterize it.
As soon as I arrived I was impressed with the location. Situated not far away from busy Hamburg the hotel street was incredibly calm surrounded by lush green gardens.
It was easy to park straight in the hotel surroundings for free something I really valued.
Check in was quick and efficient and the devotion of staff to provide the best experience to guests came across pretty quick. The quiet and calm atmosphere was also something that I noted straight away.
THE ROOM
When I entered my room I was surprised with fresh fruit and chocolates on the bed. That little gesture made me feel really special and just shows the level of care that the hotel staff has towards guests.
The room itself was very modern with neutral tones furniture. Large windows let the natural light warm up the environment which was turned to the back of the hotel to a nice garden.
I loved the leather sofas and the TV with Sky channels, the perfect elements to relax after a long day exploring the city! Also, let’s talk about the bed: soft mattress and smooth sheets gave me two super comfortable nights in Hamburg!
A little detail that I can’t stop myself from mentioning was the heated floor in the bathroom that made the room so cosy!
THE BEST LOCATION TO VISIT HAMBURG
After checking in and a very warm welcome to my room I quickly realized that the location of the Heikotel Hotel Am Stadtpark was perfect for someone who wants to explore Hamburg by public transports.
The hotel Staff was very helpful explaining the underground lines and bus routes that are just some steps away from the front door.
Located in the Winterhude district, the hotel is just 5 minutes walking to the Saarlandstraße U-Bahn underground station. In 20 minutes I was in the city centre.
The line that runs in Saarlandstraße is frequent and connects to all the other central lines. It was such a pleasure after a long day walking around the city having the tube station so close from the hotel.
There are some bus routes that pass just 3 minutes walking from the hotel too but the underground was so easy and handy that I did not actually used any of the city buses.
FACILITIES
The Heikotel Hotel offers many facilities for the best stay in Hamburg. Free Wi-Fi is available for free in every area.
A 24 hour reception is also available with friendly staff that answered to all my questions about transports and things to see in Hamburg.
If you have time and want to keep up with your gym plan you can use the fitness room which is equipped with cardio and spinning machines.
The hotel bar is also something you can visit on your way back from the city. Just opposite the street in the Stadtpark Residenz, a cosy space with a variety of drinks offers you the relax time anyone would want just before bed time.
SWEET BREAKFAST
With a large space and two big rooms full of natural light, breakfast time was the energy boost I needed for every day out in Hamburg.
I indulged myself in all the tasty food they provide which was even better than I expected.
From the traditional eggs, cereals and yogurts to the traditional German bread, cheese, different varieties of ham and the tasty cakes and croissants, the breakfast was excellent. My favourite things were the sweet marmalade and the little chocolate nutella packages that I had every day!
They also had a great selection of fruit juices, coffee and tea.
AROUND THE HOTEL
If you do want to explore around the hotel the area has great options to easily spend a day there.
Just a few minutes around the hotel there are coffee shops, restaurants if you want to have a meal away from busy Hamburg and a supermarket to get some cheap snacks for the day.
Stadtpark is also just around the corner from Heikotel Hotel Am Stadtpark, one of the biggest parks in the city, with a huge green area where you can easily relax if you don’t want to go into the city. If you want to venture further away check my Hamburg mini-guide, here.
FINAL OPINIONS
I enjoyed my stay in the Heikotel Hotel Am Stadtpark and had two excellent nights of sleep, perfect for my needs while out exploring Hamburg.
The hotel and the rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated with fresh tulips and lots of natural light making the environment a pleasure to be in. Staff was really friendly and helpful and I could not ask for more with my millions questions.
If you’re thinking to go for a break in Hamburg I recommend you to stay in this hotel. Not only the location if perfect to be away from all the busy streets in the city centre but is also good value for money when compared to other hotels in the city.
