Angsana Ihuru Resort, Maldives

Angsana Ihuru Resort, Maldives

I truly love snorkelling, it makes me feel super relaxed and happy!

When looking for resorts with good reefs and easy access from the beach to snorkel I found Angsana Ihuru Resort.

It had excellent reviews with some people pointing out the island to have one of the best house reefs in the Maldives.

With beautiful palm trees, crystal clear waters and a pristine house reef, it’s safe to say that this small piece of paradise was a dream waiting for me!

How to get there?

Angsana Ihuru is located in the North Male Atoll, just 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport to the resort.

We came from Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, which is Angsana Ihuru ‘sister island’ and it took only a few 2-3 minutes by boat.

As soon as we arrived we were welcomed in such a nice away.

We were welcomed in the friendliest way by staff.

Delicious coconut ice cream and fresh towels were given to us straight away while we checked-in and discussed things to do in the island.

Beach Villas at Angsana Ihuru

As soon as I arrived to my beach villa I was so impressed.

Modern and beautifully decorated to the smallest details using eco-friendly materials that blend so well together in the island.

There was a fruit platter and a bottle of champagne just waiting in the room and calm music being played in the background. Straight away you feel super relaxed!

I stayed for 4 nights in the Deluxe Beachfront Jet Pool Villa. Check out my highlights on Instagram.

All villas are designed to be very intimate and private even when you are at beach.

It’s spacious inside with a king-sized bed in the bedroom plus a single extra bed in the living area which was perfect for 2 adults and 1 child.

The mini-bar is generous with a large variety of snacks and alcohol beverages which were restocked as many times as requested.

One of my favourite things in the room was the jet pool which was just so much fun to use at the end of each day.

The villa was always sparkling clean. Every day it was clean twice a day to the highest standards.

Incense sticks and essential candle oils were changed every day and I used it every evening.

Beach towels, robes, flip-flops and a beach bag were also available. You really don’t need to bring much to enjoy your time at Angsana Ihuru.

The beachfront area has a veranda with dining table and chairs and the beach area has lounge chairs plus a large sofa to sit looking into the ocean as well as a swing which was quite fun for my son.

It was so good to just walk out the villa for a swim and then back to our veranda to just rest and play in the shade.

The dining experiences at Angsana Ihuru

Riveli restaurant is Angsana Ihuru beachfront all-day dining restaurant.

It offers a daily buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and in some evenings there is an a la carte menu on an all-inclusive meal plan.

I loved the set up by the beach with the sea views, truly inspiring!

There were a lot of different options in terms of food. A mix of Maldivian cuisine as well as Asian and International. I really enjoyed the barbecue for lunch and the salads for dinner.

Breakfast was complete with a little bit of everything! Delicious pastries, pancakes, waffles (I had too many), an egg station and the usual meat, fish and cheese corners. Fresh juices and fruit were also available.

The Velaavani Bar is the beachfront bar where you can have snacks and meals all day plus refreshing drinks and cocktails.

There are many other private dining options in Angsana Ihuru like candlelit dinner on the beach or on a sandbank and the in-villa dining.

The reef is rich with lively coral and incredible variety of different fish.

Just a few metres from the beach into the sea (where the water sports center is located) there’s a drop in the reef and it’s just so beautiful, like being inside an aquarium.

Final Thoughts

Angsana Ihuru Resort is without a doubt the smallest island I have ever been but that’s why it’s so special!

The limited number of guests makes it intimate and everyone feels special.

The beach villas are so cosy and private and I just had that feeling on being on my own island most of the time.

The atmosphere around is so friendly and laid-back, the true meaning of a relaxing holiday.

The staff is the best, a special mention to Liusha the waitress at Riveli which was just above and beyond with us and making sure our son was so happy with all the food.

Also to Aini that works at Ranger’s Club and reception and all the wonderful staff that cleaned our room.

I’ll also mention one special detail that just shows how this resort is one of the bests I ever stayed.

On our last day our flight was only at 11pm and we were able to be in the room for the whole day free of charge.

Angsana Ihuru is a really special place and if you can do go and stay there, trust me you will love it!
