REVIEW: THAVORN BEACH VILLAGE RESORT & SPA, PHUKET

A few years ago I went to Thailand for the very first time and spent a week in Koh Samui and a few days exploring Bangkok.

I always knew I wanted to go back as there are so many islands on my bucket list.

This time around I wanted to explore Phuket and the Phi Phi Islands.

I decided to start in Phuket and wanted somewhere to relax with some activities to have fun with my son.

Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa was just perfect for what I wanted!

Located just around the corner from Kamala Beach it has its own private beach and a lot of incredible features that makes this resort so unique.

Let me show you what you can do at this resort and I’m sure you will want to book it straight away!

Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa

With a motto of ‘Where Thai Tradition Meets Nature’, the resort combines the beach, pool and the tropical garden with just the perfect balance between nature and the facilities.

Imagine 14 acres of gardens with butterflies flying everywhere, numerous tropical species of flowers and trees, a beautiful lagoon swimming pool and your own secluded private beach? Do I need to say more?

I stayed for 3 nights so I had enough time to enjoy all the facilities and the best activities the resort can offer.

LOCATION

Thavorn Beach Village Resort is located just 5 minutes’ drive from Kamala Beach.

It takes about 45 minutes’ by car from Phuket International Airport. You can arrange private transport directly with the resort or get a taxi.

If you’re driving your own rental car you can park it at Thavorn Beach Village Resort as they have a free car park for guests.

It’s worth mentioning the resort has a free schedule shuttle bus service to Patong town centre twice a day.

The rooms at Thavorn Beach Village Resort

Thavorn Beach Village Resort has a variety of rooms available all within quick access to the pool and restaurant.

I stayed for one night at their ‘Lagoon Poolside with Bathtub’ room and two nights at their ‘Beach Front Cottage’.

The Lagoon Poolside room was right in front of the lagoon swimming pool on the second floor.

It was nice to sit at the balcony looking into the pool with so much greenery and palm trees around while being only a few steps from all the resort main areas.

The room is spacious enough for two adults and one child. It has a large double bed and a sofa and it has all these little details to make your stay super comfortable. Nice robes to use, soft bed sheets and towels.

The bathroom feels luxurious with a marble décor. It has a shower and a large bathtub.

The Beach Front Cottage I stayed was right at the beach front only a few steps from the pool, bar and restaurants.

My favorite part was the private patio looking into the sea. It was so relaxing to wake up there and drink my first morning cup of coffee!

The cottage itself was very elegant and spacious with a large king-size bed and a sofa. There’s two bathrooms with a large outdoor shower.

I had the best sleep with the softest comfortable bed and pillows and the relaxing sounds of nature and sea outside. Always sparkling clean and tidy.

EATING & DRINKING

Thavorn Beach Village has a great variety of options for all your meals.

Breakfast is served from 7am to 10am with a large spread of options.

You can start your morning with either the traditional Continental and Thai breakfast or many other options like fruits and cereals.

They even had an automatic pancake machine which I thought it was amazing!

For other meals there’s you can eat either at Marisa restaurant (where breakfast is also served in the morning) with the traditional Thai specialties and a lovely Kid’s menu, or eat at the poolside bar for light snacks and drinks.

The food is very tasty and I had a few of the traditional Thai dishes as well as the Garden Salad a few times by the pool, all were delicious. Check out my Instagram highlights here.

There’s a cafe in the middle of the pool for coffee and desserts with the coolest set up for a nice middle of the day break.

There were another two restaurants by the beachfront hut unfortunately were not open during my stay but they too looked good.

Unique features at  Thavorn Beach Village

I truly enjoyed the unique features at Thavorn Beach Village. It’s like nothing I have ever seen on a resort, specially one by the sea!

Let’s start with their amazing lagoon swimming pool. The 4,000 square metre free-form lagoon pool is considered one of largest in South-East Asia.

It’s so big and peaceful to swim around surrounded by palm trees and the most beautiful flowers.

All around the pool there are waterfalls and Thai sculptures which makes it almost magical!

There’s a large number of sunbeds to relax around the pool with a lot of shaded areas everywhere as well as big sofas.

Around this area is an Instagram dream with swings and set ups perfect for that cool holiday photos.

By the pool there’s a little bar for food and drinks and also an activity sports center.

In here you can find flamingos and unicorn floaties as well as stand-up paddle boards to use in the pool.

Another feature from this resort is the private beach Nakalay with a great atmosphere to be had around enjoying the sunshine.

Not far from Nakalay beach is Kamala Beach (5 minutes), Patong Beach (about 15 minutes) and Karon beach (about 25 minutes).

Just a few steps away from the beach is Nakalay House Reef which is an excellent reef to dive with good visibility.

The activity center by the swimming pool has many things available for the beach like volleyball balls and canoes to go canoeing in the serene bay of Nakalay.

At night it’s the perfect set up location for a romantic beachfront dinner. The staff set up a candle-lit beach cabana and you can choose an a la carte or a set-menu. This can be accessed by guests and also non-guests of the resort.

The botanical garden is a must see and incredibly looked after with so many tropical plants ans flowers.

The Chann Wellness Spa is one of the best places to visit during your stay. With therapists trained in the best massages and treatments you will feel rejuvenated and rested after your appointment.

In the mornings they have a few animals around the area between the beach and the swimming pool like turtles, parrots and little pigs. My son loved this!

The resort is complete with a large fitness center and daily wellness activities such as Yoga, Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) or Tai Chi.

Extra to this you can try Fruit Carving, Thai Cooking or Batik Painting (traditional handicraft for decoration of fabrics).

FINAL THOUGHTS

Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa is a unique resort which I can recommend to anyone that is looking for a special stay in Phuket.

The staff are extremely welcoming with guests, from Maria in reception to all the bar/restaurant staff and cleaning team everyone was excellent and so friendly.

The location is in good proximity with most of the main locations to visit in the island and at the same time feels really private and peaceful!

It has everything you could wish for to have a proper relaxed vacation: pool, beach and nature.

The rooms are spacious and within walking distance to all the main areas of the resort. I loved waking up in my Beach Cottage every morning and seeing the sea from my private balcony with birds and butterflies everywhere.

I also loved all the gardens around, it’s just so beautiful and lush combined with the lagoon swimming pool which made it hard to leave after 3 nights!

The food is also very good and well served with a variety of options that would please both adults and kids.

If I ever go back to Phuket I will have no doubts to where to stay, my only wish is that I had stayed longer!
