BANDOS ISLAND RESORT & SPA, MALDIVES

The Maldives is such a unique destination with one of the most delicate environments on the planet. Its home to incredible reefs and thousand species of fish.

It’s easy to understand why the Maldives is my favourite country and why I love to go back any time.

While researching for resorts not far from Malé (as I just wanted a really easy going trip) I came across Bandos Maldives.

This gorgeous resort is set on a private island in the North Malé Atoll and has an impressive house reef with a lot of activities and entertainment.

Bandos Maldives

The island is beautiful with several beaches, one pool, nice restaurants and a spa, gym and kid’s club which offered many activities throughout the week.

The house reef is super popular amongst guests and it’s easy to understand why! An easy swim from the beach will take you straight into the reef where you can see a lot of fish species.

The resort has also many different options in terms of accommodation between rooms and villas with a generous all-inclusive package and extra dining options.

In total I spend 10 nights at Bandos so let me tell you about my experience and everything I enjoyed during my time there.

HOW TO GET THERE

As soon as I landed it was easy to find Bandos Maldives representative at one of the kiosks you see straight way after passing customs in the airport.

Then after waiting for a few other guests and all the luggage carried into the speedboat, we were ready to go!

It was a quick 10 to 15 minutes boat ride into the resort so super easy.

Superior Beach Villa at Bandos

Bandos Maldives is a big resort with plenty of accommodation types available. It has nine room types with patios and garden or beach views and two water villas.

I stayed in a Superior Beach Villa or Jacuzzi Beach Villa which was a duplex villa with plenty of space for two adults and one child.

The villa was great with a living room area, one inside and one outside shower and a Jacuzzi. The best part was the upstairs bedroom with a beach front view balcony.

Wi-Fi was free and had decent speed. The rooms were serviced twice daily which was so nice to always have a clean room to come back to.

RESTAURANTS & BARS

The dining options at Bandos Maldives were really good. I enjoyed all the salads variety and the daily cheese selection.

Every day there were so many different dishes to choose from that I never got bored.

Also the deserts were top quality and everyone loved them!

For my time at Bandos Maldives I opted for an all-inclusive package with all meals included at the Gallery restaurant plus all the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in offer.

The Gallery Restaurant is the main restaurant in Bandos Maldives that serves buffet-style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was good quality and had a decent variety for every meal.

The Sea Breeze Café serves a range of snacks, sandwiches and pizzas from the a la carte menu. I enjoyed having cocktails there pre-dinner on most nights.

Huvan is right in the front of the island and the best place to watch sunset. Also a great spot to watch the sharks swimming around!

At the end of day I always went to the Pool Bar located in the main pool to have a few drinks and ice-cream. It was the best after a full day at the beach.

Most night’s after dinner I went to Sand Bar to watch the entertainment with karaoke, live bands or disco nights and everyone had so much fun!

There are also private dining experiences for a more intimate and special romantic dinners if you are looking out for that.

ACTIVITIES & EXPERIENCES AT BANDOS MALDIVES

Bandos has many activities in offer to make your vacation the most memorable time!

One of the main ones I would like to highlight is the house reef, which was great and so easy to see. Snorkelling equipment was available at the Dive Center.

Just a few meters swimming away from the beach I was able to see so much variety of fish as well as sharks and stingrays and I was beyond impressed!

The Dive Center located on the island is also really good and has access to over 40 dive sites.

The water sports area is just next to it with a variety of motorized and non-motorized sport equipment, including snorkels, catamarans, water skis, paddleboards and jet skis.

The next highlight in terms of features at Bandos Maldives is the Kid’s club and the great staff working there. There’s a big outdoor playground and they organize a lot of activities on a daily basis.

One of my son’s favourite was definitely the ‘disco day’ where they organized a disco session with live DJ at Sand Bar, everyone had so much fun!

The rest of the time I did a lot of sunbathing, playing with my son, drinking cocktails and coconuts by the beach and swimming around getting amazed by the house reef.

Bandos Maldives offers many excursions like the Sunset Dolphin cruise and trips to many diving sites which are super popular.

Another feature that is a plus at the resort is the Orchid Spa with all the traditional Asian massages as well as nail and hair services.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had the best time at Bandos Maldives with super relaxed days and fun nights.

Everything was super clean and organized. The food was good and the staff was so friendly and attentive.

I recommend Bandos Maldives to anyone looking to spend a nice and easy holiday away, especially with kids. It’s good value for money and I would go back again anytime easy.
